Martha M. Heyne

The funeral for Martha Heyne, 91, Wishek, ND will be held Monday, July 23, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Luke Lutheran Church at Wishek, ND. Visitation will be Sunday, July 22,2012 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek, ND. Burial will be at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, Wishek, ND.

Martha, daughter of Jacob and Katherina (Bauer) Brosy was born April 13, 1921 on the Brosy Homestead (McIntosh County) ten miles west of Wishek. She and seven of her siblings were born in a sod house. Martha attended country school (Friedensthal District) through the eighth grade. On September 1, 1940 she married August Heyne and moved to the Heyne Homestead 17 1/2 miles SW of Wishek. Her husband passed away, October 10, 1968. Martha has been a widow for 44 years. After her husband’s death she moved into Wishek and was employed by the Wishek Retirement Home as a cook from 1969 to 1974. For seven years she worked at the Super Valu (1975-82). In 1982 she retired and did volunteer work (Good Will Ambassador) and did mending at the Wishek Community Hospital. She also enjoyed having coffee with her lady friends, quilting, crocheting, watching game shows on TV, doing word puzzles, playing cards and bingo. Always she extended a helping hand to people and to organizations in financial need. Martha was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary (Royal Member), and Wishek Senior Center.

Martha died Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Wishek Home for the Aged, Wishek, ND. She was 91 years old.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Joan J (Cleo C) Boschee, Wishek, ND, one sister, Clara (Eugene) Ketterling, Waverly, IA, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her five brothers (Jacob, John, Otto, Ludwig, and Martin) and three sisters (Anna, Katherina, and Eva).
